Picked up FMA 1, Death Note 1, and Yotsuba 5 & 6... thoughI think I may already have 5. doy. FMA is great from the start, you realise reading the manga that somethings really would have been done better the manga way, no matter how subtle.

This season, I have been mostly watching:—
  • To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: A superior spinoff from To Aru Majutsu no Index.

Kuroko is hilarious[1], the titular "Railgun" (Misaka), Saten and Uiharu are brilliant, the OP is dynamic, and I have a feeling the plot's about to take a running jump from light everyday occurrences with an undertone of plot into the dark abyss of Drama. I like. :)

  • Kämpfer: Very much a guilty pleasure. So much so, people won't admit to liking it. But hell, I do.

A "fighting" anime with gratuitous German, virtually no actual fighting, virtually no fourth wall, where the main character changes from a guy into a girl because all these fighting characters (literally, sides red, and blue) are female for no reason whatsoever, and they don't even know what they're fighting for, simply because the "Moderators" (which may very well be us the viewers), want them to. So they don't fight much, because it's too much fun teasing the main character. The Moderators introduced a third, white side just to get them fighting again. I have a feeling it's not going to work.

  • Seitokai no Ichizon: or, the Student Council of Doom™[2].

No fourth wall whatsoever—the first episode opens with the first topic of conversation being how the hell they could have been adapted into an anime. Parodies abound. Hard to describe, but worth a look.

  • Sasameki Koto: Heartwarming/heartbreaking Girls Love.

Main character's best friend is a (more-or-less 'out') lesbian who likes cute girls, who failed to get into an all-girls school (because apparently, "I really like cute girls!" isn't the best thing to open your application speech with). She has a series of heartbreaking run-ins, while her tomboyish best friend (the protagonist, sort of), who has an enormous secret-ish crush on her, supports her through it all.

Add a very very 'out' couple who insist on starting a "Girls' Club" for, well,... girls who like girls[3]; and a model trap[4] and you have what's shaping up to be a rather nice series.
 1. Really, you'll just have to see why; "Onee-sama!" *glomp*
 2. OK, so that's not really what it translates to, but who gives a damn!
 3. Treated, I might add, with exactly the scandal you'd expect...
 4. No, seriously. He/she is a very convincing trap, and a model, of sorts. Protests that he's doing it to make his sister happy meet with a genuine joy at shopping for girl's clothes. Least convincing denial evar. Of course, the 'trap' status is a closely-guarded secret, because that's more fun.

I picked up a very cheap complete DVD of Fruits Basket, since I figured it'd be a good start to Anime for my girlfriend, and I've always wanted to see it (I'm a sucker for comedy/romance anime).

We were not dissapointed. She loved it, I loved it, it's a nice little gem for anyone yet to see it.
But if you've read the Manga, be prepared for a fair few changes.  :)

I've heard good things about fruits basket but it always seemed to girly even with my amine history. How is it on this front?

Speaking of my girly anime history, currently watch cleavage girl and robots shoot shit! My sig is translating this as Ghost in the shell: sac

I loved the Fruits Basket anime (doesn't really say much about it's girly-ness. XD) and it made me buy the manga, which is even better. I wouldn't say it's too "girly", it has a couple of strong male characters. It does have a very feminine male character but hey, what anime doesn't? It's a fantastic series, as Yates said. I would say it's worth checking out. ^^

Please do! Yes, it's rather girly, but animes of this genre tend to be! It's humorous, the english dub isn't overly annoying, plenty of romance and some actually rather cool character designs!
If you don't mind the cliche romance-comedy situations, you'll love it. ^_^

For now, I'm watching Megas XLR online here and there. Thats an anime in a sort of way, right?  :P

Epic ending. Won't spoil it, but it's really picking up again.

Bleach #397 & #398
I can't say too much about this as I have about 80 chapters to catch up on XD but just reading these two has made me want to go back and catch up. Cheers Skawt :3

K-On!!

Pretty good, OP is a little strange but will probably grow on me. ED with bonus cake fairy. There was a lot less mutant hands among the characters which is always good, and there was one or two shots of them playing their instruments. All in all it looks like this series is going to rock.

I found the OP a bit weird, but the ED makes up for it. I think I prefer the Mio songs in general.

I guess so. Though as of yet I'm not as impressed with them as the first series. Though they both get across the point of the show very well (ie cake)
