One possible story could be to try and uncover the truth about the assassination and try to stop the war. I'd imagine though even if that was true that things would still be quite rough between the two countries.

Other smaller storylines could be operations against either country, or smaller scale espionage. Throw summathat James Bond sheet in there.

War. Just escalate it into a full-blown war. XD Seriously, creates drama and it's conflict on a unique scale with the Steampunk stuff. Also creates possible character conflicts which is always fun. >=D

Well war's are generally not good, especially for America who have just come out of a civil war. So while full-blown war might be good for drama I can very well see people wanting full-blown war to be prevented, especially as Confederate states might use this as a chance to seize power.

Pyra knows his history. All angles can be looked at, there can be those who want to fight against england, those who want to sieze the power for themselves, or even those who want to uncover what really happened.

Well, on the other hand, it might be opportunistic to Great Britain. America is still weak from a Civil War, as you say, and they've openly blamed them for the assassination of Lincoln. They've handed political justification over on a platter. Add this to the fact the British Empire was still enjoying almost unchallenged dominance during this time (I'm assuming the date of the assassination is still the same), since the Empire is what was largely responsible for Great Britain to maintain its military operations during World War I (started in 1914), and Britain might see this as an excellent opportunity to re-take the colonies it lost less than a hundred years before.

Of course, I'm not sure that the general population would be supportive but I'm fairly sure that patriotism was at least alive during this time and if the government can add a little spin to America's accusation they could easily amass support for a war at home.

I'm just saying there are a number of reasons to justify a conflict as well as prevent one.

EDIT: Also, just want to add this from the Bio Thread:

Quote
Andrew Johnson, the newly sworn in president, has declared war on Britain.

So it seems war is imminent anyway. XP

Nothing is set in stone yet other than war has been declared, there is of course the possibility for negotiation too with the states.
