My New Bio ^^ Comments Welcome!
« on: Mon 24 Dec 2007 14:39:02 »
Now, I know this Bio has nothing to do with anything on here, but I have nowhere else to post it now that AL:UK is well and truly dead, so as long as you don't mind, I'm sticking it up on here :)

This is my Bio for my new character for AL's Multiverse (yes, yes I know, traitor and all that :P)

Alex Horton’s Biography

A Brief Prologue…

Many years after the time of Ash Ketchum, and the golden age of the Pokémon world, the training and capturing of the indigenous monsters known as Pokémon (Abbreviated from the words ‘Pocket’ and ‘Monster’) has evolved. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the battles in which Trainers fought became a lot more involved. Team Unity (the successors of Team Rocket) began using their Pokémon to attack opposing trainers directly, rather than just their opposing beasts. This lead to trainers needing to become learned in the ways of combat, and thus, it became apparent that trainers would not only have to train their companions to fight, but would also have to train themselves.

This saw a brief time where Pokémon trainers were few and far between, and Team Unity came to become the ultimate power on the planet, ruling through fear and threats of the inhabitants. Their rule however was brief, and a group of Pokémon trainers, who themselves were also well trained in combat in one way or another, came together and defeated the leader of Team Unity; Lord Karak. Thus a new age of Pokémon training was born, where not only the Pokémon took part in battle, but also their trainers…

Details

Name: Alex Horton
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Job: Pokémon Trainer
Rank: Pokemon Master (Oh yes, that’s right!)
Character Tier: Intermediate / High
Character Type: Stand Alone

Physical Appearance

Mr Average; at first glance, Alex is a normal looking twenty two year old young man. He has reddish auburn hair, which is left rather unruly, with the only style being the fringe, which is combed down over his right eye (emo-fringe!), this being the choice to cover a nasty scar across his eye and up onto his forehead. His eyes are a deep hazel brown, with slight tinges of green around the edges. He is always clean shaven except for the slight hint of sideburns down the sides of his face. He stands an average 5’10” and weighs around 172 pounds. His body is athletic, with a toned, but not overly muscular build. He also has another scar on his right calf.

Attire

Alex wears a plain dark blue hooded sweater, and ripped, worn out old jeans. On his feet he wears a pair of tatty old black Converse sneakers, which have seen him through many an adventure. Around his wrist he wears a plain silver wrist watch with an analogue face. On the rare occasion that he removes his sweater, he will be seen sporting a plain t-shirt of a rather boring colour (white, black, navy blue, etc). He wears a standard Pokémon Trainer’s belt around his waist, with the usual six red and white coloured Pokéballs attached to it.

Personality

This is where Alex begins to get a little more interesting. He is a very intelligent lad, and has possessed mental powers from a very young age, which through training he has honed to a very powerful degree (see below for details on powers and abilities). This allows a greater sense of unity between himself and his Pokémon companions, giving rise to far quicker responses, as well as much deeper bonds between he and them. He is also very outgoing and confident, these traits helping him motivate himself to elevate himself to the highly sought rank of Pokémon Master. His warm and friendly personality often rubs off on those around him, and he can often lift the spirits of companions and comrades when they are feeling down. He has a very ‘never say die’ attitude, and will often carry on fighting where others perhaps would give up.

Skills, Powers and Abilities

Pokémon Training - Level 8
The ultimate goal of a Pokémon trainer is to defeat their particular country’s current Pokémon Champion. Alex has done so by journeying around his native country of Filkoh. During his adventure, he has trained and refined not only his own abilities, but also those of his Pokemon, over the course of many years. He has since overcome each of the eight Gym Challenges in turn, thus allowing himself to challenge the ‘Elite Four’ (the top four Pokemon trainers in the country, with the exception of the current Champion). The Elite Four were defeated, along with the Champion, thus attaining the rank of Pokémon Master.

Intelligence - Level 5 (with potential for much more)
Before Alex became a Pokémon Trainer, he was always top of his class at school. He was one of those kids that loved to study, always completing extra credit assignments and putting in extra effort just for the fun of it. (I hate those guys… :P) He graduated school with honours and went on to study Quantum Physics and Rocket Science. However, he was then handed the opportunity to become a Pokemon Trainer and abandoned his studies momentarily. Halfway through his time as a Trainer, he started studying again, his psychic powers allowing him to retain information like a sponge. He can speed read through books, and will always remember the information, no matter how complicated.

Psionic Powers - Level 6
Alex possesses powerful psychic powers. He can manipulate matter and to some extent can distort space and time, be it only minor distortions. He has the ability to read minds, and also project his thoughts into those of others. He can also shield his thoughts from others of similar ability, by forming mental barriers. His high level of ability in this field enables a much deeper connection between himself and his Pokémon. He is linked to each via a deep mental connection, and this can often help him turn the tide of battle. This ability has eradicated the need for orders to be barked to his companions, as they know exactly what he is thinking at that particular time. Through this ability, he can also execute perfect attacks via combinations of his own attacks linked with those of his Pokémon.

Healing - Level 5
Alex possess the ability to heal minor injuries caused to himself or to his Pokémon via his psychic powers. This can include healing wounds by fusing skin or tissue together, or repairing minor broken bones.

Unarmed Combat - Level 5
Alex often fights against other trainers and their Pokémon without weapons, due to them being prohibited in most battles. He uses a variety of combat styles, taken from various backgrounds, including ninjitsu, kung-fu, karate, amongst others. He basically does anything he possibly can to win, but of course, sticking to the rules of engagement.

Armed Combat: Swordsmanship - Level 6
Alex’s preferred combat style is wielding his twin blades Fastosus and Occasus (see Character Equipment section). His swordsmanship can occasionally be seen to be remnant of the ancient Samurai, however he will often prefer to use his own personal style. When it requires, he will often arm himself only with Fastosus where finesse is required, and will adopt a fencing form known as Sorel.

Armed Combat: Gunmanship - Level 4
Alex’s least preferred fighting technique is wielding his two Desert Eagle .50 pistols. However, when needs must he can call on his reasonable proficiency with his pistols to help turn the battle in his favour.

Combination Attacks - Level 7
As previously stated, Alex has the ability to link his mind with those of his Pokémon, enabling perfect battle coordination between himself, and if need be, multiple partners. Due to the varying abilities of each of his Pokémon companions (see Pokémon section) various abilities and attacks can be linked and performed in unison for advanced powerful effects. These can include different elemental attacks being fused together, or manipulation of matter along with other abilities to confuse and confound opponents.

Character Equipment

Old Worn Converse Sneakers - Level 1
Alex’s choice of footwear. They have seen him through his long journeys, and could probably do with a wash. He once contemplated buying a new pair, but quickly dismissed the thought, due to the sentimental value contained within them.

Ultra Balls - Level 5
The items used within the Alex’s world to catch Pokémon. The wild beasts are first weakened, and then a Pokéball is thrown to catch it. The caught Pokémon is stored within.

Master Ball - Level 7
The Master Ball has the power to catch any Pokémon at which it is thrown, regardless of its condition.

Fastosus - Level 6
Fastosus is Alex’s rapier style blade. It is a plain rapier by appearance, but can be powered up by his Pokémon’s abilities. The blade is constructed of Damascus forged stainless steel. It was given to him as gift by Avros; the Champion whom Alex defeated to attain the rank of Master, following their battle in the Ivory Tower.

Occassus - Level 6
Occassus, Alex’s second blade is a scimitar shaped blade, again being forged from Damascus stainless steel. It was forged by the blacksmith Aaron of Teakwood, and given to Alex after he rescued Aaron’s daughter from the clutches of Team Unity. The blade is wide, and curved, and there is a verse engraved from hilt to tip of the blade which reads ‘Audere-Est-Facere’ (to dare is to do).

Alex’s Pokémon - The Mighty Six

Ayestuo - Level 7
Ayestuo is Alex’s Charizard. Evolving first from Charmander to Charmeleon, and then from Charmeleon to Charizard, Ayestuo was Alex’s first or ‘starter’ Pokémon. Bestowed upon him by Professor Ash (that’s right!), he was at first an enigmatic fickle creature. Alex struggled at first to form a bond with his new companion but soon became friends, and now shares a deep bond with him. Like most Charizard, Ayestuo possesses the ability to create and manipulate fire energy which is created deep within the pits of his stomach, and unleashed as fireballs and infernos from his mouth. He bears the same appearance as most Charizards (see above), but his tail has the potential to burn with such intensity, that if he or Alex willed it, whole towns and cities could be consumed by it. Ayestuo will often take to the skies on his majestic wings, directing his fiery attacks against his foes from miles above them.

Praesentia - Level 8
The fabled Mewtwo. Alex was lucky enough to encounter one of only a few known existing Mewtwo in the world. Unlike most trainers, Alex didn’t just throw a Master Ball at Praesentia, but instead opted to battle with it, and catch it the traditional way. Alex first used Drakis, his Dragonite to combat the Mewtwo. However, the powers of this man-made Pokémon were too much for Drakis, so Alex opted for Ayestuo, and used his psychic powers, along with the Charizard’s fire powers to finally overpower the Mewtwo, and catch it. This, in turn, helped to create a deep bond between himself and Praesentia. Whereas most of the Mewtwo caught often turned on their trainers when they showed weakness, the fact that Alex had demonstrated power enough to defeat and catch it helped to prevent this. Praesentia is a powerful ally indeed. He has massive psychic powers, enabling inter-dimensional transportation, and manipulation of time and space. He can control the minds of others, and can easily make another Pokémon, or even its trainer to do his, or Alex’s bidding.

Drakis - Level 7
Drakis is Alex’s Dragonite. When fishing for Goldeen one day, Alex was surprised to snag a Dratini on his hook. He then caught the Dratini, and decided to train him, into a legendary Dragonite. And what a powerful Dragonite he became. Drakis is famed as perhaps the most powerful of its kind since that of Lance, the legendary dragon-tamer. His power and speed is legendary around Filkoh, and just the mentioning of the name Drakis will strike fear into the heart of Alex’s foes. Drakis commands not only the power of the dragons, but also that of ice, fire, water and lightning. His most powerful attack applies each of these elements together to create beams so effective, that most Pokémon and their trainers are left unable to carry on the battle. The drawback with this power is that it can only be used in extreme situations, and once it has been used, Drakis will become pretty much useless in battle due to exhaustion. Unlike other Dragonites, Drakis is not the usual orange colour, he is of a dark green hue. Drakis is also Alex’s preferred method of transport, due to his size, Alex can easily climb aboard, allowing Drakis to ferry him to wherever he so desires.

EX425MkIII - Level 6
EX425MkIII is Alex’s PorygonZ, referred to simply as X3. Due to the strange composition of the Porygon evolution strain, they can be used to infiltrate computer networks, and wreak havoc within them. Alex first obtained a Porygon by accident. It was transmitted accidentally to his email account from an unknown source. Alex then extracted and captured X3. Since that day, he has since been upgraded, first to Porygon2, and then to PorygonZ. There are still scientists working on further upgrades. X3 is at his most useful when infiltrating computer mainframes, and it was with X3 that Alex managed to hack into Team Unity’s computer network, and discover their plans to attack the Ivory Tower. Alex then used X3’s hacking abilities to infect their network, and change the plans, so that the attack completely backfired, and Team Unity were easily defeated by the Elite Four.

SAM - Level 6
SAM (or Sam) is a Metagross and is made entirely out of the hardest metal known to man, despite this however, his body remains clear like glass. He possesses some hugely powerful attacks, which are often combined with those of Ayestuo or Drakis to combine Sams command of metallic elements with the control of other energies. Alex will often ride on Sam’s back, whilst he wreaks havoc on opponent Pokémon. Sam has the ability to generate electro magnetic waves powerful enough to attract meteors to his location. He will then manipulate the waves so that the meteors can easily be directed at opponents. Sam can also generate gamma, beta and x-rays, creating radioactive fields and causing potential nuclear blasts.

Temporis - Level 8
Temporis is Alex’s most recently acquired Pokémon  companion and is a Dialgia. So far Temporis is the only known Pokémon of this species in the world. Dialgias have the ability to control time, slowing, speeding up, and even stopping it, allowing much more accurate and deadly blows. Although he may appear super fast, he is not actually moving very fast at all, but has slowed down time around himself, letting him move normally and pick targets a lot more easily. Alex caught Temporis when on an expedition into the Sinnoh region. Due to his ability to manipulate time, Temporis has the potential ability to travel through time; past and present; although as of yet, he hasn’t used this power since being captured by Alex.

History

Before he turned 16, Alex was just a normal guy. He attended one of the top schools in the country, and was the top student in all his classes. He put an immense amount of effort into everything he did, whether it be school work, or sports, or anything. No matter what it was, he would always apply himself completely. However, Alex’s world was much different to that of ours. Inhabiting his world, living alongside the people, were creatures known as Pokémon. I’m sure most of you will be aware of these creatures, but for those of you who are not, here is a brief explanation:

The concept of the Pokémon universe, is that people become Pokémon trainers, and are given two major goals; to complete the Pokédex by collecting all of the available Pokémon species found in their own specific region; and to train a team of powerful Pokémon from those they have caught to compete against teams owned by other Trainers, and eventually become the strongest Trainer, the Pokémon Master. At present there are 496 recorded species of Pokémon, all of which are unique from one another in their own way.

Now, in Alex’s time, Pokémon trainers have become more and more scarce, and few new trainers are chosen now due to the much deeper role of the trainer within a battle. The Pokémon Professors, who are experts on Pokémon, and are asigned a specific region to be in charge of, select the new candidates themselves. There is a careful selection process now, and unlike the days of Ash Ketchum, where just about anybody could be come a trainer, only special, very talented individuals are chosen.

Alex caught the eye of Professor Ash one day, when he was visiting Alex’s school to deliver a presentation about what it takes to be a trainer to the students. Whilst speaking to the Principle of the school, Professor Ash was made aware of Alex and his amazing abilities, and wished to arrange a sort of interview to see just how talented he really was. Alex made it through the interview, and left a long lasting impression on Professor Ash, who promptly decided to offer Alex his first Pokémon, allowing him to take his first steps on what would be a truly amazing adventure indeed.

Alex was given the choice of three Pokémon; Bulbasaur - a grass dinosaur type; Squirtle - a water turtle type; and Charmander - a fire lizard type. For Alex, this was not a difficult decision, as Charmanders have the potential to grow into powerful beasts of fire, with similar personality traits to Alex himself. He called the Charmander Ayestuo. Professor Ash then gave Alex his Pokedex, which is a tool used to record the data of each Pokémon a trainer encounters on his journey. With this, Ash bid him good luck, and sent him on his way.

The next step on his journey was to reach the next town, training himself and Ayestuo, in order to take the first Gym Challenge. In the Pokémon world there are eight gyms in each region, each of which must be challenged to receive a badge. Once all eight badges have been collected, that trainer is eligible to compete at the Pokémon League, where they must battle and defeat the legendary Elite Four; the four best trainers from that region, followed finally by the Champion. As with the gyms, each region has its own Elite Four (apart from Kanto and Johto, whose Elite Four is shared between the two regions).

Now, I could go into detail about Alex’s adventures through Filkoh, but frankly, it is a tale far too long to tell in one go. In short, Alex journeyed to each of the eight gyms in the Filkoh region in turn, defeating the gym leaders, usually with ease. On his way he amassed a huge collection of Pokémon friends, six of whom were chosen to accompany him as his ultimate team. This team of six Pokémon came to be known as The Mighty Six within the Pokémon Community, and Alex’s name slowly became more and more renowned. When the time was right, Alex journeyed to his ultimate destination; The Ivory Tower, where the Elite Four were awaiting his challenge.

He swiftly defeated each of them in turn; Leon - Master of Birds; Meredith - Mistress of Water; Jermaine - Master of the Mind and finally Felicity - Mistress of Dragons. This confirmed what each of them had heard, and that the rumours were true. Alex was most certainly the most powerful trainer of this generation. With a solemn bow, Felicity wished him luck, and unlocked the doors to the final floor of the tower, where Alex would have to face his toughest opponent yet - Avros, son of Team Unity's leader; Lord Karak. Not only did Avros want revenge for the defeat of his father at the hands of Alex, but he was also a powerful adversary. The battle lasted for many hours, until finally, Ayestuo struck the final blow to Avros’ Salamence, clinching victory for Alex and his Pokémon.

It was at this moment that Avros finally believed what everyone else did, that Alex was indeed a true Pokémon Master. With this, he congratulated his opponent, and presented him with Fastosus - Avros’ trusty blade which had seen him through many arduous journeys. And after that, Avros stepped down from his post as Pokémon Champion of Filkoh, and retired from battling, taking a well earned break.

Alex’s job now was to take up the post of Champion in the Ivory Tower, and await challenges from promising trainers. For a while, no challenger was even worth writing home about, and Alex defeated all of them with ease, sweeping them and their Pokémon away in a storm of fire, ice, water and meteor strikes.

However, one day, in what seemed like what was going to be another routine day at the office, a young trainer by the name of Garner pulled out his wild card. After having his first five Pokémon defeated easily, all at the claws of Ayestuo, Garner threw his final Pokéball into the air, and from it sprang, to Alex’s surprise, the legendary Mew. For those who don’t know, Mew is one of only a few Pokémon where only one of its kind exists. It was from Mew’s DNA that Mewtwo was created, which gives you some idea just how powerful it is.

Garner’s Mew swiftly executed a huge mindshock to Ayestuo, taking him out of the battle completely. It was at this point that Alex decided to fight fire with fire, and sent out Praesentia. Mew floated momentarily, eying his new opponent, and Praesentia did the same, until in a flurry of psychic attacks, the two engaged each other and began to fight what would be Alex’s last battle in the Ivory Tower.

The two Pokémon and their trainers had each other locked in mental confrontation, delivering blows directly to one another’s minds, until Praesentia finally broke free of Mew’s mental grip, and unleashed an attack the likes of which had never been seen (and they called themselves Tenacious D… Ahem). The blast from the attack reduced the Ivory Tower’s top floor to rubble. Not only did it cause mass destruction to the tower, the two trainers and their Pokémon were consumed by the blast and never seen again…

It is now that we join Alex Horton once more, as he awakens in a strange new place, a place known only as The Multiverse…

Interesting and well written, but I dont want to know the RP that Alex Horton would walk into, for fear the RP world implode itself on his sheer power.
