One thing that I thought of, I know I mention alot about people with 'great faith' I just figured that it might be worth explaining that a little better.
The average church goer doesn't have a strong enough faith to repell vampires, for someone to have a strong enough faith they must be trained as a priest e.t.c Their views and beliefs must be unshakeable for them to have the power to repel vampires. There are of course those in the guild of hunters who are trained to use this ability in a more combat evironment, they are well versed in the prayers of protection and blessing along with the effective use of their faith.
Its also worth mentioning that not all hunters are like this, most arn't and are instead trained much heavier in hunting methods e.t.c
